[MONDIAL MINIMES] Wesley Wade's goal gave the USA a 1-0 win over Mexico in the fifth-place game at the 40th Mondial
Minimes in Montaigu, France.
Wade’s goal in the 59th minute was enough to place the USA fifth out of 12 teams.
The USA had beaten Japan in a shootout after its
semifinal game for teams who finished in second place in their respective groups ended in a 1-1 tie.
Chivas USA academy player Bradford Jamieson IV
scored his second goal of the tournament in the 40th minute, but Japan equalized just five minutes later.
A 1-0 loss to Portugal knocked the USA into the second-place bracket.
The Santa Cruz County Breakers' 95 academy team finished 11th in the Mondial Minimes club division.
Their '97 team lost to Monaco, 1-0, in the final of a neighboring tournament, where
Alejandro Lopez was named tournament MVP.
