U-17s to play in BBVA Compass soft opening

[DATEBOOK] BBVA Compass Stadium, MLS’s 11th soccer-specific venue, opens Saturday with the Houston Dynamo's MLS match against D.C. United, but the U.S. U-17 national team is the showcase team to take part in Thursday's official soft opening event against the Houston Dynamo Academy team.

The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. CT and is open to Houston Dynamo season ticket holders, sponsors and select guests. It is not open to the public.

The U.S. U-17s will stay in Houston and face the FC Dallas Academy team on Saturday at Houston Amateur Sports Park.

The other soccer-specific stadiums include The Home Depot Center (LA Galaxy, Chivas USA), FC Dallas Stadium, Toyota Park (Chicago Fire), Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (Colorado Rapids), BMO Field (Toronto FC), Rio Tinto Stadium (Real Salt Lake), Red Bull Arena (New York Red Bulls), PPL Park (Philadelphia Union) and Livestrong Sporting Park (Sporting Kansas City).
