“When you are a player, you are with the guys, but when you are a coach, you have to separate yourself and keep that professionalism. I didn’t expect that when I came here. I thought it was going to me more loosey-goosey, but no, he was all business and very straightforward and I admire that.”

-- D.C, United captain Dwayne De Rosario on second-year coach Ben Olsen, who was selected to coach the MLS All-Stars against Chelsea July 25. (MLSsoccer.com)

Being a former player at SJSU and a coach the next day changes your outlook instantly. Your friends on your team are now under the direct supervision of you, more about buisiness than fun, and are more of a role model. However, as players turned into coaches, hopefully Mr. Olson doesn't lose all of his fun.
