Wynalda named Atlanta Silverbacks' interim coach

The Atlanta Silverbacks of the NASL have named Eric Wynalda interim coach and adviser.

The former U.S. national team star and television analyst recently guided the amateur Cal FC to the round of 16 of the U.S. Open Cup.

Atlanta, which is in last place in the NASL with its 1-5-8 record, said the 43-year-old Wynalda will assume immediate control of "team-related decisions," including the search for the permanent coach to replace Alex Pineda.
