After the Argentine failed to win a title for the Dubai club, Al Wasl has fired Diego Maradona from his head coach position.

Maradona, who as a player won the 1986 World Cup and as coach led Argentina to a quarterfinal finish at the 2010 World Cup, had signed a two-year deal with Al Wasl in May 2011.

Although popular, his team finished eighth in the 12-team league.

Hopefully this can be the end of Diego. Or do people just enjoy seeing him further embarrass himself over and over? Note: He didn't coach Argentina. Others were doing that work. But I will give him credit for being absolutely crushed by Germany in that 2010 quarterfinal. Diego Maradona was okay probably up until his 26th or 27th birthday. Everything since has been nothing but shame and near buffoonery. Let's just usher him quietly off the stage, shall we?
