[AMERICANS ABROAD] Ricardo Clark's first foray into European soccer ended almost as quickly as it began. Clark started the first game for struggling Norwegian club Stabaek in the first qualifying round of the Europa League, but he was taken out after just 42 minutes in the second leg as Stabaek's 3-2 home win over Finland's JJK wasn't enough to overcome a 2-0 loss in the first leg. Young Sean Cunningham also started both games for Stabaek.

Two other Americans advanced.

Etchu Tabe of Finnish club KuPS tied Llanelli AFC, 1-1, in Wales to advance, 3-2, on aggregate.

Giuseppe Funicello's Thor Akureyri beat Ireland's Bohemians, 5-1. The result sent the Icelandic to the second qualifying round by the same score on aggregate.
