Puyol resumes training with Barcelona

Barcelona defender Carles Puyol is back training following knee surgery performed two months ago that forced him to miss the final weeks of the 2011-12 season for Barca as well as the European Championship, which Spain won in his absence.

He trained on the field part from the rest of the squad for a light session monitored by the team's trainers on Monday, his first session since undergoing arthroscopic surgery.

Puyol will undergo further medical tests next week to confirm his fitness to return to full training -- the same day that the team's Spanish internationals resume training.

Barca teammate Dani Alves shared the squad's enthusiasm at seeing the captain back on the field. "I am very happy that Puyi is back, that's he's in good shape and he is recovering. I think that with Puyi you don't need to look at his age, because it's irrelevant. For me, he's like a 2-year-old kid."
