Patrick Kluivert, the Netherlands national team's all-time leading scorer with 40 goals in 1994-2004, will be an assistant coach to new Netherlands coach Louis van
Gaal.
Kluivert will combine his national team duties with his youth team coaching position at FC Twente.
The 36-year-old ended his playing career in 2008 after a season
with French club Lille that followed stints at Ajax (1994-1997), AC Milan (1997-1998), Barcelona (1998-2004), Newcastle United (2004-2005), Valencia (2005-2006) and PSV Eindhoven (2006-2007).
Van Gaal succeeded Bert van Marwijk, who resigned after the Netherlands lost all three of its Euro 2012 games.
