The English summer's most high-profile transfer saga is over as Manchester United and Arsenal agreed on a $34.5 million transfer fee Wednesday evening for Robin van
Persie to join United from the Gunners.
The 29-year-old Dutchman, who will undergo a medical in Manchester Thursday, is the latest star to exit the Emirates. Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri left last season for Barcelona and Manchester City, respectively, and Barca has its eyes on
midfielder Alex Song.
Arsenal and United were believed to be about $15 million apart on a fee, but a compromise was reached with additional
payments being made based on the appearance, goals and trophies Van Persie earns at United.
Van Persie is the first player to leave Arsenal for Manchester United since Viv Anderson in 1987.
