EAST. No. 8 Penn State followed up on its 3-1 win over No. 7 Virginia with a 5-0 win over St. John's. The Nittany Lions got two early goals from senior Christine Nairn, as well as goals from Maddy Evans and Emily Hurd to open up a 4-0 advantage after 23 minutes.  Costa Rica freshman Raquel Rodriquez added her first goal in the 52nd minute.

-- Senior Alyscha Mottershead scored with 21 seconds remaining in the first overtime to complete Syracuse's comeback in a 3-2 win at Colgate. The Orange trailed 2-0 in the second half before scoring three unanswered goals to win its season opener for the first time since 2008.

-- Canadian Olympian Jonelle Filigno scored in the 101st minute to lead Rutgers to a 1-0 win over Ohio State. The win was the second in two games for the Scarlet Knights, while the Buckeyes fell to 0-2-0.

MIDWEST. No. 10 Oklahoma State defeated Weber State with its second 1-0 decision in two games. George Christie’s first career goal in the 64th minute was the lone goal.

-- Missouri Valley champion Illinois State held No. 19 Illinois to a 1-1 tie. Rachel Tejada put the Redbirds ahead from the penalty spot in the 24th minute but freshman Nicole Breece equalized for the Illini five minutes later.

-- Belmont came from behind on the road to defeat 2011 Mid-American champion Toledo, 2-1, getting goals from Katie Proud and Spencer Laufer.

SOUTH. Kim DeCesare registered a career-high six points with two goals and two assists to lead No. 1 Duke to a convincing 8-0 win over Elon. Laura Weinberg and Katie Trees both added two goals apiece for Duke, which finished with a 32-1 edge in shots. "Today we wanted to play two good halves," Bule Devils coach Robbie Church said. "I thought we moved the ball well."

-- James Madison coach Dave Lombardo picked up his 350th career coaching victory thanks to the Dukes' 2-1 win over Marshall on Kelly Germain's goal four minutes into overtime.
