[WAKE FOREST-UNC WILMINGTON] UNC Wilmington will be a force to be reckoned with this season. The Seahawks followed up their preseason 2-1 win over North Carolina with a 0-0 tie with No. 3 Wake Forest at the the Hilton Garden Hokie Invitational Sunday in Blacksburg, Va. Caitlin Hunter made 10 saves to keep the Demon Deacons off the scoreboard.

Hunter also got some help in the 36th minute when Riley Ridgik headed a Rachel Nuzzolese corner kick off of the post.

Two days earlier, Hunter had held off No. 24 Virginia Tech, the tournament host, until the 102nd minute when Shannon Mayrose scored to give the Hokies a 1-0 win.

"Wake Forest is an incredibly well-coached team with talented players all over the field," said UNCW coach Paul Cairney. "Once they establish a rhythm, they are hard to beat as they maintained possession very well. As the game wore on, however, we grew in confidence and had a few quality chances to score and win it in the second half."

Cairney added that the Seahawks will need build off this result. Next up: No. 7 Virginia on Friday.

Record Book: Soccer America Preseason All-American Aubrey Bledsoe made four saves to post the 18th shutout of her career, tying the Wake Forest career record.
