Cristiano Ronaldo, who announced last week that he was sad and didn't celebrate the goals he scored for Real Madrid, returned to his club in a good mood after two wins with Portugal.
After helping Portugal to World Cup qualifying wins over Luxembourg and Azerbaijan, Ronaldo announced, it is “now time to return to the club and think only about my club. I would like to reaffirm, without being concerned about contracts, that my focus is solely on winning every game and every available trophy with the essential company of my teammates and all madridistas.”
He wouldn't reveal why he was sad -- saying only that “those who worked in the club” knew why -- but speculation is Ronaldo's looking for a raise after a change in Spain's tax laws lowered his take home pay.
Ronaldo's net salary of $12.5 ranks 10th in the world among soocer player.
