[BIG EAST] After opening with six straight conference wins, No. 11 Georgetown, No. 15 Marquette and No. 25 Notre Dame all had to settle for ties on Sunday.
Notre Dame entered the game against visiting Rutgers with a seven-game winning streak but could only manage a 2-2 tie.
Freshman forward Crystal
Thomas scored twice in a span of six minutes midway through the first half to put Notre Dame ahead, but Rutgers answered with the tying goal from Stefanie
Scholz 66 seconds later.
Less than three minutes later, Thomas nearly had a hat trick, ripping a rising shot that twisted across the face of goal toward the upper left corner, but
the shot the crossbar -- the third time in less than 13 minutes that the woodwork denied the Fighting Irish.
-- Marquette's conference win streak came to an end on Sunday as the Golden
Eagles had to settle for a 1-1 tie at Connecticut. Freshman keeper Jess Montrose made 10 saves to stymie Marquette, which has averaged almost three goals a
game.
-- Mexican international Charlyn Corral's goal gave Louisville a 1-1 tie with Georgetown. Daphne Corboz
had scored for the Hoyas.
