With its 2-0 home defeat of 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday, German giant Bayern Munich matched its previous record of seven straight victories to open the 2012-2013 Bundesliga season.
That club record is also a league record shared with FSV Mainz 05 and FC Kaiserslautern.
Bayern eased to victory thanks to a goal in each half from French wizard Franck
Ribery.
The Bavarians’ lead at the top of the Bundesliga stretched to five points over second-place Eintracht Frankfurt. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund, last season’s
Bundesliga champion, drew 1-1 at Hannover 96, widening its deficit to nine points behind league leading Bayern.
