Italian papers La Repubblica and La Gazzetta dello Sport have linked Pep Guardiola with manager’s position at AC Milan, with the former claiming that the ex-Barcelona manager has been offered a four-year contract worth close to $32 million, or $7.7 million per year. According to the report, Milan legend Paolo Maldini would join Guardiola at the San Siro as his assistant.

The Gazzetta dello Sport report claims that Allegri will be fired if the Rossoneri lose away to Lazio when Serie A resumes after the international break. In that case, assistant coach Mauro Tassotti would take over on a caretaker basis until the end of the season, when a new manager would be brought in. The paper claims that Guardiola and Zenit St Petersburg boss Luciano Spalletti are the frontrunners, although the latter would be much cheaper. Guardiola, who is taking a sabbatical after leaving Barcelona at the end of last season, would require around $100 million to spend on new players, the report says.
