[WORLD CUP 2014 QUALIFYING: Asia] Iran beat South Korea, 1-0 in Tehran to pull even with the Koreans at the halfway point of World Cup 2014 qualifying in Asia's Group A. Australia moved back into the race for one of the top two spots in Group B with a 2-1 win on the road against Iraq. New York Red Bulls midfielder Tim Cahill had one of the goals for the Socceroos, who finish with three of their last four games at home.

Javad Nekonam scored in the 76th minute to give Iran the win. World Cup 2022 host Qatar's hopes took a hit when it fell at home to Uzbekistan, 1-0.
