[ECNL SPOTLIGHT] Catarina Macario, whose family moved to California from Brazil to give her a better opportunity to excel at soccer, has scored 10 goals and notched two assists for the San Diego Surf in four Elite Club National League games this season.

“We know that women’s soccer has no value in Brazil. Because of this lack of respect and encouragement, we decided to move here,” said her father, Jose Macario.

Macario was called into a U-14 girls national team camp in August by Jill Ellis, U.S. Soccer's Director of Women’s Development.

… In a U-17 win over FC Virginia, the Richmond Strikers’ Elizabeth Ball, who is headed to Penn State, scored her third goal of the season. …
