The French soccer federation has imposed a harsh punishment on five U-21 players for breaking a curfew just a few days before the second-leg of last month’s defeat to Norway in a Euro 2013 qualifier, which saw Les Bleus ultimately fail to qualify for next year’s tournament.
Wissam Ben Yedder (Toulouse), Antoine Griezmann (Real Sociedad), Chris Mavinga (Rennes) and M'baye Niang (AC Milan) were suspended from playing for any French national team until Dec. 31, 2013, while 22-year-old Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila, who played for France at Euro 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, faces a longer ban, until June 30, 2014.
