FC Barcelona has revealed a new shirt sponsorship with Qatar Sports Investments that will begin next season. According to La Marca, the La Liga giant will receive around $218 million over six seasons. The partnership will allow QSI to feature "Qatar Airways," one of its commercial enterprises, under the Barcelona emblem on the front of the shirt. It will replace the non-profit organization "Qatar Foundation" as the club’s main shirt sponsor.

Over the course of a few years, Barcelona has gone from keeping its shirts sponsor-free throughout its history to carrying UNICEF on its shirt in a non-profit agreement in 2006, to having a paid sponsorship from the Qatar Foundation in 2010, to today’s multi-million euro deal.

"Qatar Airways is an ambitious brand with global aspirations, always committed to achieving the utmost excellence in its field. These are objectives with which Barcelona FC fully identifies," Barca President, Sandro Rosell said. The "Qatar Foundation" will continue to be linked to the club.
