Traffic has snagged commercial partnership rights to the 2013 Gold Cup and the 2013-14 and 2014-15 Concacaf Champions League away from SUM.

The Concacaf executive committee approved the deal after due process from the Concacaf Evaluation Committee that included U.S. Soccer general secretary Dan Flynn.

Traffic had held the Concacaf rights for the Gold Cup and Concacaf Champions Cup until 2003.

SUM has held the Concacaf rights since then as it gained increasingly control of the American soccer market. It is also the MLS and U.S. Soccer marketing arm and organizes many international friendly matches.

The switch back to Traffic from SUM coincides with the change in regimes at Concacaf, where Jeffrey Webb of the Cayman Islands replaced Trinidadian Jack Warner as president and Colombian-born Enrique Sanz replaced American Chuck Blazer as general secretary.

Sanz previously worked at Traffic, which was founded 32 years ago in Brazil and is a leading international soccer agency. It is a major stakeholder in the NASL.

MAN. UNITED'S 11TH DEAL. Manchester isn't the wealthiest English club for nothing. It signed its 11th sponsorship deal of the year when it signed a four-year agreement with prominent Turkish bank Denizbank. Denizbank will offer a Manchester United-branded credit card and cardholders will get a number of incentives and benefits of interest to Man. United fans.

THE GALAXY STORY. As part of its deal with the new Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes, “Backstage: Galaxy” and Spanish-language “Galaxy Confidencial” have offered a behind-the-scenes look at the Galaxy during its playoff run.

UCL VIEWERSHIP RECORD. The Manchester City-Real Madrid match on Nov. 21 was the most-watched UEFA Champions League Group stage match in Fox Soccer history with 236,000 total viewers. The match, which ended in a 1-1 draw that knocked Manchester City out of the competition, is also the highest-rated UEFA Champions League group stage match in network history in household coverage area rating (0.42) and key male demographics, including 18-34 (0.58), 18-49 (0.55) and 25-54 (0.56).

THANKSGIVING TV HIT. FOX Soccer’s Thanksgiving coverage of the Europa League match between Lazio and Clint Dempsey's Tottenham  also made history as it attracted 129,000 viewers, making it the most-watched UEFA Europa League match to date on the network.
