[MISSISSIPPI STATE] Mississippi State hired Texas Tech associate coach Aaron Gordon as its new head coach.
Gordon spent six seasons at Texas Tech and was promoted to associate head coach prior to the 2012 season during which the Red Raiders set a school record for wins with 16 and advanced to the second
round of the NCAA Tournament.
“It’s exciting to come to Mississippi State and have a chance to be a part of this athletic department, to get a chance to build a program and
compete in the SEC,” Gordon said. “It’s everything I’ve wanted as a coach, and this opportunity is very exciting.”
Gordon grew up in the Dallas area and
graduated from North Texas. His women's coaching experience included a stint as the top assistant for the Atlanta Beat of the WUSA.
