[NCAA DIVISION III TOURNAMENT]Messiah won its ninth NCAA Division III men’s championship in nine appearances in the final with a 5-1 victory Saturday over Ohio Northern at San Antonio's Blossom Soccer Stadium. Brian Ramirez, Mike Kovach, Carter Robbins and Jeremy Payne scored as Messiah jumped out to a 4-0 lead after only 19 minutes.

The final was a lot easier than the semifinal when the Falcons had to go to overtime to beat Loras, 1-0, on Kovach's goal in the 99th minute.

Ohio Northern beat Williams, 3-2, in the other semifinal. Nate Bascom scored the tying goal and set up the go-ahead goal by Jeremy Barnes to lead the Polar Bears into the final for the first time.

Bascom's goal was his 56th collegiate goal, tying the Ohio Northern career scoring record.
