Eva Bergsten, who guided the University of Hartford to two America East Conference championships in three seasons as head coach, has left the school to become head coach at Wesleyan College in nearby Middletown, Conn.

Bergsten, a former Swedish national team player, was 36-23-3 at Hartford -- 22-5-1 in AEC matches -- following three seasons as Mark Krikorian's assistant coach with the Hawks. She was a three-time Division II All-American under Krikorian at Franklin Pierce College.

Krikorian went on to be head coach of the Philadelphia Charge and now guides the U.S. under-19 women's national team.

Hartford hasn't announced Bergsten's departure, but Wesleyan, which plays at the NCAA Division III level, announced she was taking over for Holly Wheeler, who will serve as Bergsten's assistant and remain as Wesleyan's women's lacrosse coach.
