[AMERICANS ABROAD] The weekend before the holiday break for Americans everywhere but in England and Belgium saw Michael Bradley's Roma pound AC Milan, 4-2, with what was described as "champagne soccer." In England, Clint Dempsey sat out Tottenham's 0-0 tie against Geoff Cameron's Stoke Citywith a slight groin injury. Brad Guzan made seven saves, including a stop on Lucas Piazon's penalty kick, but that was one less than the number of times he had to pick the ball out of the net as Aston Villa endured a humiliating 8-0 loss to Chelsea, which had scored only seven goals in its previous seven games.

-- Sacha Kljestan's Anderlecht extended its lead at the top of Belgium's Jupiler to eight points with a 4-2 win at Genk.

-- Jozy Altidore's AZ hit a new low as it fell at home to FC Twente, 3-0., and now sits in a tie for 12th place in the 18-team Eredivisie.
