The Sun is reporting that Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has been told he has no future at Stamford Bridge, and will be free to leave the club during the transfer
window, which opens on Tuesday, even though the player is under contract with the Blues until the end of the season. According to the report, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has
informed Lampard of his decision, leaving the 34-year-old “distraught,” as he wanted to end his career with the club he has played for since 2001.
“Frank is absolutely
distraught,” an unnamed source told The Sun. “He wants to keep playing for Chelsea but they’ve told him to find another club in the January transfer window. He can’t
believe it. All he wants to do is play for Chelsea. This club means everything to him.”
Lampard has been heavily linked in the British media with a move to the MLS champion Los
Angeles Galaxy, which is seeking to replace the departing David Beckham.
