Tottenham midfielder Clint Dempsey fired a warning at Manchester City that his club is eyeing second-place in the English Premier League this season after a string of terrific
results has catapulted the London club to third place in the standings. Spurs have won seven of their last nine EPL games, only trailing City by six points.
"That's the goal," Dempsey
said when asked if finishing second was a realistic target. "Everybody wants to be pushing for great things and doing something special in their careers. We have the quality in our team and there's no
reason why we shouldn't think that.” The USA international was speaking after his two goals helped Spurs to a 3-0 FA Cup third round win against Coventry City.
"My season is going
OK,” Dempsey added. “I've got six goals and I think five assists in all competitions now, so it's starting to look better," he said. "I'm someone who likes to score or get assists so it's
good to be getting those stats up, contributing and trying to help this team do well. It's going well but I still want to be better at what I'm doing."
