Following his team’s 1-1 draw at home to 17th-place Wigan Athletic, Fulham coach Martin Jol admitted his team is missing Clint Dempsey’s goals. The USA
international netted 17 goals in the Barclays Premier League last season, and was one of the main reasons the Cottagers finished comfortably mid-table. Fulham is currently 13th following
Saturday’s draw at Craven Cottage, just six points above the relegation zone.
"It's much the same story," Jol said. "You're 1-0 up and you need another goal. When you can't score
another goal, you look vulnerable. We've got quality and that will pull us through, but in the end, you have to score two goals. Last year more often than not - with Clint Dempsey getting a lot
of winners - was decisive. This year, 1-0 most of the time isn't.”
