[VIDEO PICK: Golazo] A wonderfully worked corner leads to an amazing volley as the biggest game in Portugal this week provided the best goal in Europe this
weekend.
Last week we showed you Nicolas Gaitan’s incredible
backheel for Benfica, and today's equally spectacular finish also resulted from a corner by Portugal’s leaders.
Two of the country's biggest clubs ended this game tied 2-2,
keeping FC Porto three points behind rival Benfica, which is alone in first, but Porto has a game in hand.
This goal by 24-year-old Nemanja Matic evened matters in the
10th minute on Sunday at the Estadio da Luz for the hosts, Benfica, and provided ammunition for those fans pleading for their team of choice to get more creative on its corner kicks.
Although it may require fielding a 6-foot-4 Serbian midfielder who’s capable of volleys like this one to make it all end so appealingly.
Just a thought ...
