[AMERICANS ABROAD] Stuart Holden made his first appearance for Bolton Wanderers in 16 months -- and only second in 22
months -- coming on in the second half of its 2-0 win at the Premier League's Sunderland in their third-round FA Cup replay.
Holden, who came on in the 74th minute, injured his injured
his right knee during a challenge with Manchester United's Jonny Evans in March 2011. He returned to action six months later but needed another surgery to
further repair his knee shortly after that.
By the time Holden entered the game, Bolton had gone ahead on two second-half goals by Marvin
Sordell.
Geoff Cameron, Holden's former Houston Dynamo teammate, started for Stoke City in its 4-1 overtime victory over Crystal Palace.
