ANC: Adebayor Looking for Revenge Against Drogba

Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor says he is hoping to settle a few old scores with former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba when Togo meets Ivory Coast in an Africa Cup of Nations Group D first round clash tomorrow.

Last season, Chelsea crushed Spurs 5-1 in a FA Cup semifinal at Wembley en route to lifting the trophy. Drogba scored in both the semi and final. Then Chelsea won the UEFA Champions League final, thanks again to a goal and a decisive final penalty from Drogba in a shootout against Bayern Munich. That result subsequently denied Spurs a place in this season’s competition, as Chelsea automatically qualified as last year’s winner. As last year’s fourth place Premier League team, Spurs had to settle for the Europa League.

"It was very tough to take," Adebayor told reporters. "It was a like a very bad defeat even though we did not play in the match itself. But things change quickly in football and there is always a chance to turn a failure, or a perceived failure into a success."
