[AMERICANS ABROAD] Conor O’Brien, a virtual unknown when he moved to Denmark two years, has signed a two-year contract with Superliga champion FC Nordsjaelland on a free transfer from Sonderjyske.

O'Brien was the two-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year Award at Bucknell but was overlooked by MLS clubs in the 2010 SuperDraft.

After one season in the third level of Danish soccer, the midfielder moved to FC Nordsjaelland, where he scored seven goals in 45 appearances.

FC Nordsjaelland is viewed as a step up for O'Brien, the third American to play for FC Nordsjaelland.

Both Heath Pearce and Michael Parkhurst parlayed strong showings at the tiny North Zealand club into moves to German clubs.

Parkhurst joined Augsburg as a free agent during the winter break.
