[MLS 2013 COUNTDOWN] Brazilian center back Glauber scored off a corner kick to give the Columbus Crew a 1-0 win over Toronto FC in the opening game at the 2013 Disney Pro Classic. Glauber was one of three players to make their debuts for the Crew. Montreal and D.C. United also won at the ESPN Wide World of Sports, while the Philadelphia Union had to settle for a 1-1 tie with USL PRO's Orlando City. For more on the weekend preseason action plus news from Chivas USA, Columbus, New York, Portland and Seattle ...

-- Marco Di Vaio scored late in the first half and Andrew Wenger added a second goal after the interval as the Montreal Impact rallied from a goal down to beat Sporting Kansas City, 2-1, in the second game at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. U.S. international Graham Zusi had the SKC goal. Lionard Pajoy and rookie Taylor Kemp both scored a pair of goals as D.C. United defeated the NASL champion Tampa Bay Rowdies, 4-0. In the other match, the Philadelphia Union had to settle for a 1-1 tie with USL PRO's Orlando City.

-- Real Salt Lake won its first match of the preseason with a 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy in a scrimmage at the Home Depot Center. Starters included Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando, who spent January training with the U.S. national team. Former Galaxy keeper Josh Saunders played the second half for RSL.

-- Chivas USA came back from 3-0 down to beat South Korea's Gangwon FC, 7-3, in a match that stretched over four 35-minute quarters. Miller Bolanos, Jose Correa and Tristan Bowen each knocked in two goals apiece.

CHIVAS USA. One player who did not take part in Chivas USA's 7-3 win over Korean club Gangwon FC -- a game played over 140 minutes -- was U.S. international Juan Agudelo, who is sidelined with a foot injury. New coach Jose Luis Sanchez Sola, who earlier in preseason training expressed his frustration about the absence of starting goalie Dan Kennedy with a dislocated finger, said he was again perplexed how MLS rehab methods work. El Chelis told MLSSoccer.com:

“In the whole world, you take a disinflammatory, a muscle relaxant, do some hot-and-cold treatment, and the next day you’re training with the injury [Agudelo] has. In the soccer here, you’ve got to stop activity for three days for the foot to return to full strength.”

COLUMBUS. The Crew signed 25-year-old Argentine midfielder Matias Sanchez, who spent the last four years at Estudiantes. He made 14 appearances for Argentina’s U-20 national team, helping it win the 2007 U-20 World Cup in Canada. “Matias is a technically gifted player with valuable international experience at the highest levels of the game,” said Crew Technical Director Brian Bliss in a statement. “Our roster has been coming together in recent weeks, and Matias is another young and talented player that gives us versatility in midfield.”

NEW YORK. The Red Bulls signed 20-year-old winger Ruben Izquierdo. He's a product of the Real Mallorca youth system but spent time in England with Kidderminster Harriers and Charlton Athletic before returning to Spain last season on loan at third division San Roque de Lepe. “Ruben is a very interesting young player with a lot of potential,” said Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh. "He is technically very good and his willingness to work and learn bodes well for his future development."

PORTLAND. Forward Bright Dike will undergo surgery on Monday to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee. Dike, a late cut for Nigeria's 2013 Africa Cup of Nations team, sustained the injury in the second half of the Timbers’ preseason match against Seattle on Tuesday. He'll be out until August.

SEATTLE. Shalrie Joseph, a four-time Best XI selection with New England, has been training with the Sounders. Joseph was traded to Chivas USA but does not fit into El Chelis' plans. The Sounders received permission from Chivas USA to come into camp, but Seattle coach Sigi Schmid told the Seattle Times he did not expect a deal to happen:

"It's very evident that he hasn't trained in a while. It's evident that he's very much behind physically, as well. He still needs to make improvements in that regard. You can see little sparks of what Shalrie has brought over the years -- that's why he was a Best XI player -- but he's still a ways away from that form."
