Lennon leads Brophy to Arizona title

[HIGH SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS] Virginia-bound Riggs Lennon scored his 59th goal of the season to lead Brophy Prep to a 2-0 win over Desert Vista in the Arizona Interscholastic Association Division I boys final. Lennon, who trained at Aston Villa of the English Premier League after his junior season, topped his 2011-12 total of 51 goals. He finished his prep career with 148 goals. ARIZONA. Salpointe Catholic (2-0 winner over Apollo) and Phoenix Cortez (4-0 over Coronado) repeated as Division II and Division III boys champions, respectively.

Arizona girls titles went to Xavier College Prep (1-0 over Desert Vista), Catalina Foothills (3-0 over Apollo) and Campo Verde (1-0 over Mingus). It was the fourth straight title for Catalina Foothills.

FLORIDA. Girls titles went to Oviedo (Class 5A), Melbourne (4A), American Heritage-Plantation (3A), Ocala Trinity Catholic (2A) and St. John’s Country Day (1A). The boys season wraps up this weekend with the FHSAA finals.
