French TV channel Canal+ has decided to borrow from the ESPN playbook in deploying a specially dedicated ‘BeckCam’ for
David Beckham’s expected Ligue 1 debut for Paris Saint-Germain against Marseille on Sunday. The ‘BeckCam’ will follow the Englishman’s every move before,
during and after the game in anticipation of his first appearance for the French giant. Whether or not Beckham spends most of Sunday on the bench remains to be seen, but with midfielders Lucas
Moura and Jeremy Menez both struggling with injuries, ESPN claims the 37-year-old could even start.
Separately, PSG on Friday unveiled its new logo, which will be used from the start of next season. Club president Nasser Al
Khelaifi said the logo, which features the Eiffel Tower and the word "Paris" prominently, is “an important step towards fulfilling our ambition: that of making PSG one of the biggest
global sporting brands.” Perhaps the debut of one of the world’s biggest celebrities for its soccer team is just another step?
(In the USA, Sunday's PSG-Marseille game will
be broadcast live at 3 pm ET on BeIN Sport.)
