For the first time in 41 months, Bayern Munich defeated Germany’s defending league and cup champion, Borussia Dortmund, thanks to a “dream” goal from winger Arjen Robben.  The Dutchman’s perfectly placed curling shot was the only goal of the game, as Bayern booked its place in the semifinal of the German Cup at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

"If you decide such a game with such a goal, you have to be happy," Robben said. "I am 29 now, but when you dream of such a game, you dream of scoring those goals."

The win keeps Bayern on course for a treble, as the Bavarian giant enjoys a comfortable lead at the top of the Bundesliga table, in addition to a 3-1 advantage going into the second-leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 against Arsenal.

"We're back on top of German soccer. The German situation is solved. We have done a lot to return to the top," Bayern President Uli Hoeness said. "The spectators knew it was more than just a quarterfinal. It was a game deciding supremacy in German soccer."
