[UNDER-17 WOMEN'S WORLD] Citing a number of unforeseen circumstances leading to heavy stadium construction delays, FIFA has pulled the 2014 Under-17 Women's
World Cup from Costa Rica.
FIFA said in a statement the decision was made in agreement with the Costa Rica federation and it had no other option than to move the tournament, which was scheduled to be played in five Costa Rican cities.
In the statement, FIFA said is now looking at various options to evaluate potential hosts for the 2014 tournament as soon as possible.
The recommendations will be presented to the FIFA executive committee, which will decide on the new host of the competition during its next meeting on March 20-12 in Zurich.
