[ID2 TOUR] US Club Soccer’s id2 National Selection gave Real Madrid's powerhouse Infantil A team a scare, taking a two-goal lead after nine minutes before falling, 4-2, Tuesday evening at Ciudad Real Madrid. Both teams are comprised of players in the 1999 age group.

Nick Taitague (FC Richmond) took a pass from Jonathan Gonzalez (Atletico Santa Rosa) and gave the Americans the lead after three minutes.

Six minutes later, Taitague fed Sam Vines (Pride SC), who scored from near the penalty spot to make it 2-0.

Real Madrid rallied to make it 2-1 in the 29th minute and added goals in the 52nd, 55th and 73rd minutes.

Real Madrid's undefeated Infantil A is 16-1-0 with a goal margin of 66-7 in its Madrid regional league. Its only loss with a 4-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid in December.

Next up for the id2 National Selection will be a game against FC Barcelona Infantil A on Thursday. Kickoff at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper is slated for 7 p.m.

This ID2 Team is pretty much our current USA U14 National Team except for 6 players. 12 of these players were on the 35-PLAYER ROSTER FOR TRAINING CAMP FEB. 16 – 24 just before this trip. Before that trip, 11 of these players were on the 36-player roster for the training camp from Nov. 17-25 at The Home Depot Center and before that one 10 of these players were at National training camp in August 2012. Every player on this team except for 4 have been recognized as National Team Caliber players. The reality is that our USA National Pool Team lost to a club team from Spain. I wonder how many national players are on that Real Madrid Team??

If ID2 is an "Identification OF Players Organization" why not send players not yet "Identified" by the USSF? Most of these players have been to more than one NTC. Isnt this team expected to win vs a club team no matter how good their record in SPain?

22 of the total 52 that attended the ID2 camp in Phoenix in December had already been invited to 1 or more USSF National Pool Camps. Thats almost 1/2. It seems there was not great effort in identifying more top talent. ID2 has taken over ODP as the one to have more players on National Rosters but that is not the way it is. ID2 is identifying talent already in the USSF mix. SO what's left?? Academy. How can ID2 brag about having more kids in National Programs when they have already been identified by USSF? There were 2 national coaches at this ID2 camp also eval;uating players for this trip. If I were them I would be picking players not yet identified by them so they can evaluate new top talent for a bigger pool. But thats just me.
