[U.S. UNDER-20 MEN] Forward Daniel Cuevas, who starred for the USA at the 2013 Concacaf Under-20 Championship, tweeted
Wednesday night that he just found out that he has a "small tear on my meniscus" and he might have to have surgery.
Cuevas, a native of Sacramento, Calif., plays for Mexican club Santos'
Sub 20 team. He was fouled for the penalty kick that led to the first goal against Haiti and scored the second goal himself in the 2-1 win to open the Concacaf Under-20 Championship in Puebla,
Mexico.
In the deciding quarterfinal match that would determine which team would go to the 2013 Under-20 World Cup in Turkey, Cuevas assisted on the tying goal and started the sequence
that led to the fourth goal in the 4-2 win over Canada.
Cuevas scored in the 2-0 win over Cuba in the semifinals but suffered an ankle injury that kept him out of the final, where the USA
lost to Mexico, 3-1, in overtime.
