[ODP] The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association under-14 girls ODP team won the Agropoli Cup in Italy with a 6-0 win over a Naples team in the final. The U-14 boys finished third.

The girls won the championship with perfect 4-0-0 record, outscoring their opponents 17-0. Other wins were over Napoli (3-0), Roma (2-0) and Salerno (6-0).

“Italy was a blast! The girls embraced the experience, they put on a show and the Italians really appreciated it,” said head coach Sarah Dwyer-Shick. “And the food was good, too!”

The boys defeated Sacred Curoe Agropoli (2-0) in the third-place game. They lost to Jaragad in their first game (2-0), then tied Agropoli Jagad (1-1) and beat Freccio Azzurro (1-0).

“The tournament was a very important experience for the ODP players, coaches and parents to see a different style of playing outside of the United States,” said boys head coach Miguel Cuellar. “We had the opportunity to see the rich cultural and soccer history of Italy as well so it was an educational experience for everyone.”
