A few hours after being confirmed as Scotland’s Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the Year, Motherwell striker Michael Higdon was arrested over an alleged assault at a nightclub in Glasgow. Apparently, Higdon was involved in an incident with the bouncer of the club Corinthian at close to 1:30 AM. Motherwell has confirmed that it is aware of the situation.
Higdon was supposed to meet journalists for a press conference on Monday morning, but the event was postponed due to his arrest. He has since been released from police custody. The Motherwell striker is the Scottish Premier League's top scorer with 26 goals this season. Higdon beat Hibs striker Leigh Griffiths, Aberdeen's Niall McGinn and Andrew Shinnie of Inverness to the title of Player of the Year.
