Charleston wins fifth game in a row

[USL PRO REWIND: Week 8] The Charleston Battery won its fifth game in a row with a 4-2 win over the struggling Wilmington Hammerheads Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium in front of 3,699 fans.

The Battery jumped out to a four-goal lead in the first half on goals by Dane Kelly, Nicki Paterson, Zach Prince and John Wilson but had to hold off a Wilmington comeback after the break. Paul Nicholson scored goals in the 53rd and 59th minute for the Hammerheads, who have lost five in a row.

Also on Saturday ...

-- Joseph Ngwenya posted a first-half hat trick and midfielder Nate Robinson notched three assists to lead the Kickers to a 4-1 win over Antigua Barracuda FC. The result left Barracuda FC as the lone team without a win with a record of 0-7-0.

-- Joel DeLass and Gibson Bardsley each scored twice to lead the Dayton Dutch Lions to a 4-3 victory over Phoenix FC.

Sunday ...

Dom Dwyer scored two goals to lead first-place Orlando City to a 2-0 win at the Seattle Sounders Reserves to give him 10 in eight games.

-- The Rochester Rhinos got a late goal by New England Revolution loan player Matt Horth to claim their first victory of the season in seven games with 1-0 victory at Wilmington on Friday night.

-- The Harrisburg City Islanders got two goals and assist from Sainey Touray in a 4-0 win over Barracuda FC in the rain at Skyline Sports Complex.
