[U.S. OPEN CUP REWIND: First Round] David Geno, who came from East Tennessee State to spend the summer with the Seattle Sounders U-23s, scored four goals to lead the PDL team to a 5-1 win over Doxa Italia in the first round of the 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Three other players had hat tricks on an evening of high-scoring action that produced an average of 3.4 goals per game.

-- Arjgent Duka, older brother of Chicago Fire midfielder Dilly Duka, for New Jersey USASA team FC Icon in a 4-1 win over Brooklyn Italians.

-- German Hakan Ilhan had a hat trick to lead the PDL's Carolina Dynamo back from 3-1 and 4-3 deficits to tie Chattanooga FC, 4-4, in a game it won on penalties.

-- Ghanaian Kwadwo Poku had three goals for the NPSL's Georgia Revolution in its 4-3 win over the Real Colorado Foxes.

Perhaps the biggest upsets were the USASA's Dearborn Stars 2-0 win over perennial PDL power Michigan Bucks on a pair of goals from former Bucks forward Niki Djokic and a 2-1 win for FC Tucson (PDL) over Phoenix FC (USL PRO) thanks to a goal by Connor Bevans in the 82nd minute in their clash of Arizona clubs.

The Portland Timbers U-23s overcame a two-goal deficit to defeat the Sacramento Gold, 3-2, on goals by Zack Foxhoven, Gabriel Conelian and Mark Sherrod.
