“We seem to be the lab rats to get more games for young referees and I don’t like it at all. I think it’s inappropriate to have one team subject to more experienced referees.”

-- Toronto FC president Kevin Payne, bemoaning the inexperienced referees his team seems to get on a regular basis. He said six of TFC's first 10 games were whistled by referees with 10 or less MLS games under their belts. He said in Toronto's last three games, MLS reviewed four different plays after the fact where there could have been a red card. Payne went on to say his team's poor record -- three points from the Eastern Conference cellar --- was "self-inflicted." (TorontoFC.com)
