[AMWAY CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP] After starting 0-4-1 in MLS play on the road, the Vancouver Whitecaps adopted a new defensive look for the first leg of the Amway Canadian Championship final at Montreal, and it paid off with a 0-0 tie at Stade Saputo.

Among the changes were midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker moving to right back and left back Alain Rochat and giant center back Brad Rusin playing in midfield.

With a Cascadia Cup match coming up on Saturday, Coach Martin Rennie rested goalie Joe Cannonalong with Lee Young-Pyo, Jun Marques Davidson, Camilo and Daigo Kobayashi, who all started against the LA Galaxy.

Montreal had a 2-1 edge in possession time but Vancouver finished with a 10-9 edge in shots.
