Kljestan goal helps Anderlecht move closer to title

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Sacha Kljestan, who was called up to the U.S. national team on Thursday, celebrated with the first goal in Anderlecht's 4-2 win at Lokeren that moved it closer to clinching its second straight Belgian Jupiler League title. Hercules Gomez's Santos fell at home to Cruz Azul, 3-0, in the first leg of their Torneo Clausura semifinals in Mexico, while Clarence Goodson did not dress in Brondby's 4-0 win over FC Nordsjaelland that moved it out of the relegation zone with one game to play in Denmark's Superliga.

It will clinch the title with a win or tie against Zuite Waregem on Sunday. Zuite Waregem will win the title with a win.

MEXICO. U.S. national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann shouldn't have to worry about Hercules Gomez missing the start of the national team camp May 26 in Cleveland. Despite a 25-9 edge in shots, Gomez's Santos fell at home to Cruz Azul, 3-0, in the first leg of their Torneo Clausura semifinals. Gomez played 90 minutes.

DENMARK. Clarence Goodson did not dress in Brondby's 4-0 win over FC Nordsjaelland that moved it out of the relegation zone with one game to play in the Superliga. Conor O’Brien came off the bench for FC Nordsjaelland, which has already clinched second place and a berth in UEFA Champions League qualifying.

NORWAY. Mikkel Diskerud had an assist in Rosenborg’s 4-2 victory over Sarpsborg 08. Josh Gatt played the entire game in Molde FK’s 5-1 loss to Haugesund that left it last in the Tippeligaen.
