Kljestan's Anderlecht repeats as champion

[AMERICANS ABROAD]Sacha Kljestan started for Anderlecht in its 1-1 tie with Zuite Waregem that clinched its second straight Belgian league title.Clint Dempsey's Tottenham will miss out on the UEFA Champions League again next season as it had to settle for fifth place in the English Premier League despite its 1-0 win over Sunderland. Jermaine Jones went the distance for Schalke 04 in its 2-1 win over Freiburg that clinched fourth place in the Bundesliga and a berth in the final UEFA Champions League qualifying stage.

-- Fabian Johnson
started for Hoffenheim in its 2-1 win UEFA Champions League finalist Borussia Dortmund to avoid automatic relegation. Hoffenheim will play Kaiserslautern in a promotion/relegation playoff May 23 and May 27, while Fortuna Duesseldorf joined Greuther Fuerth as the second Bundesliga team to fall.

-- Johnson's Hoffenheim teammate, Danny Williams, Augsburg's Michael Parkhurst and Stoke City's Brek Shea did not dress this weekend. All three were called up by Jurgen Klinsmannfor the USA's five-game series of international matches despite their lack of playing time.

-- Steve Cherundolo, who was not called up so he could get work on his knee, assisted on the first goal in Hannover 96's 3-0 win over Fortuna Duesseldorf.

-- In Russia, Evgeni Starikovcame off the bench to score two goals for FK Rostov in ts 3-2 loss at Amkar Perm'.

-- John Anthony Brooks (Hertha Berlin) andBobby Wood (1860 Munich) both scored on the final day of the German 2. Bundesliga season.
