[CHIVAS USA] Do you think Chivas USA academy players had a little motivation for their regular-season finales against the LA Galaxy at the Home Depot Center? Owner Jorge Vergara, whose plans for the club have been a matter of much speculation, flew into town and watched both the U-15/16s and U-17/18s earned huge wins.

Romario Lomeli and Caleb Calvert led Chivas USA’s U18 team to a 2-1 victory over the Galaxy. Lomeli gave the Red-and-White the lead in the 20th minute off a pass by Brian Kennedy. Early into the second half, Calvert notched his 22nd goal of the season to extend its lead. It proved to be the difference as the Galaxy scored in the 80th minute via a penalty kick. With the win, Chivas USA qualified for the USSDA playoffs that will kick off on June 24 at FC Dallas Park.

Chivas USA’s U15/16 team defeated the Galaxy 4-2,  to extend its unbeaten streak to 12 games. The Southwest Division champions got goals from Mark Hernandez, Bilal Abdallah, Jorge Ruiz (his 17th goal this season) and former U-17 resident Amaya Adonis.
