City Islanders move into second place with road sweep

[USL PRO REWIND: Week 11] The Harrisburg City Islanders scored three goals in the first 22 minutes on their way to a 4-0 victory on Saturday night at the Charlotte Eagles to sweep their with weekend swing through the Carolinas and move into second place in the USL PRO standings.

The City Islanders got a pair of goals from Aaron Wheeler and one each from Philadelphia Union players Chris Hernandez (on a curling free kick) and Jimmy McLaughlin.

On Friday, Sainey Touray scored his sixth goal of the season and defender Stephen Basso converted a penalty kick to give the City Islanders a 2-1 comeback win at the Charleston Battery.

-- The Portland Timbers Reserves scored three goals in the second half to overcome a three-goal halftime deficit and earn a 4-4 draw on the road against VSI Tampa Bay FC. Adverse weather conditions and lightning delayed the start of match for approximately 50 minutes, but that did not prevent VSI Tampa Bay from finding the back of the net three times, including two goals from forward Andriy Budnyy, in the opening 18 minutes. Midfielder Douglas Dos Santos scored again right before halftime as VSI Tampa Bay FC took a 4-1 halftime lead. But the Timbers Reserves fought their way back into the match on goals by Sebastian Rincon and Jose Valencia both tallied in the opening 11 minutes of the half to trim the deficit, 4-3. Forward Sal Zizzo provided the equalizer, converting a penalty kick in the 68th minute.

Strikers Jose Angulo and Jhonny Arteaga each scored along and second-half substitute Ryan Kinne added a third goal as the Pittsburgh Riverhounds defeated the Rochester Rhinos, 3-0, at Highmark Stadium. With the win, the Riverhounds earned their first back-to-back victories of the season and extended their unbeaten streak to six games in USL PRO play.

-- The Wilmington Hammerheads got goals fromJamel Wallace and Daniel Roberts to earn a 2-1 victory over the Phoenix FC Wolves in front of 2,752 fans at a sunny Legion Stadium.
