Sky Blue FC and Portland remain tied for lead

[NWSL REWIND: Week 10] Sky Blue FC and Portland Thorns FC remained tied for first place with wins on Sunday. Sky Blue FC  held off the Boston Breakers, 3-2, while Portland improved to 3-0-0 this season against Seattle with a 2-0 victory over winless Reign FC before 13,802 fans at JELD-WEN Field.

-- Monica Ocampo and Katy Freels-Frierson each had a goal and an assist as Sky Blue FC beat the Breakers at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, Mass. Australian Lisa De Vanna had the third goal for Sky Blue FC.

-- Meleana Shim recorded her first pro goal and assisted on Danielle Foxhoven's goal in the Portland win. Thorns FC goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc made a beautiful kick save on a Seattle penalty kick attempt from Christine Nairn in the 84th minute to preserve the shutout.

-- German internationals Inka Grings and Sonja Fuss both scored as the Chicago Red Stars won, 3-1, at FC Kansas City to move to within one point of fifth-place Boston.

The Western New York Flash defeated the Washington Spirit, 2-0, on goals by Mexican international Veronica Perez and Vicki DiMartino to extend is unbeaten streak to six games on Saturday night in front of 4,630 fans at Maryland SoccerPlex Stadium.

Before the game, ceremonies were held to name the SoccerPlex's championship stadium after women's soccer pioneer Maureen Hendricks. Former Washington Freedom star Mia Hamm was among those on hand for the ceremonies.

-- The loss left the Spirit with just one win in nine games.
