Unbeaten Kickers end Orlando's record home unbeaten streak

[USL PRO REWIND: Week 15] Playing its first game without star Dom Dwyer, who was recalled by Sporting Kansas City, first-place Orlando City fell to the unbeaten Richmond Kickers, 2-0, before 8,842 fans at the Florida Citrus Bowl. The loss ended Orlando’s regular season home-unbeaten streak of 25 games, which was a league record.

“I didn’t think we looked sharp tonight,” said Orlando City coach Adrian Heath. “I think if we would’ve scored first, it [the goal] would’ve given us something to hang on to. I knew it would be a very difficult task for us against Richmond."

Richmond came into Orlando having played only two road matches in 2013. The third-place Strikers moved to within three points of Orlando with a game in hand thanks to second-half goals by Jamaican teenager Michael Seaton and a Bryan Ownby bicycle kick. Both are MLS loan players, like Dwyer was.

On Sunday, the Kickers tied VSI Tampa Bay FC, 0-0, to extend their unbeaten streak to 14 games.

--  The Charlotte Eagles completed a sweep of the Chicago Fire Reserves with a 2-1 win at Toyota Park. The Eagles went ahead early in the third and 14th minute on goals from Christian Meza and Shaun Francis. Maicon Santos pulled the Fire to within one in the second half. A 78th-minute red card to Alex forced the Fire to finish the match a man down.

-- The Rochester Rhinos played to a 0-0 draw with Phoenix FC in front of 7,334 fans on Hall of Fame Night at Sahlen’s Stadium.

Friday ...

Sainey Touray
scored the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute for his ninth goal of the season and lead the second-place Harrisburg City Islanders to a 2-1 win on Friday night over Phoenix FC that moved them within a point of Orlando City. Isiah Schafer's equalizer after Yann Ekra's opening goal was Phoenix's first in its last five games.

-- The Dayton Dutch Lions twice came back from a goal down to tie Charlotte, 2-2. Jorge Herrera set up Christian Ramirez, then scored himself for Charlotte, but Joel DeLass (on a rebound of his missed penalty kick) and Shane Smith (on a give-and-go with Brandon Swartzendruber) equalized for Dayton.
